About the Center for Applied Stochastics Research
The Center for Applied Stochastics Research in the College of Engineering, Florida Atlantic University was established in 1984. Professor Y. K. Lin, Charles Schmidt Eminent Scholar in Engineering has been the Director since its establishment. The Center serves as a focal organization to conduct research activities in FAU related to the applications of probability and statistics in various fields of engineering as well as natural sciences.
The research projects at the Center have been related to wind engineering, earthquake engineering, aerospace structural dynamics, bio-medical engineering and other applications. These projects have been funded by various federal agencies, such as National Science Foundation (NSF), Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Office of Naval Research (ONR), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (NCEER).
The Center operates a water channel laboratory in addition to theoretical research.
